Building It The Right Way

The Catfish are pointed at a 2027 kickoff, and we'd rather take the time to set this up properly than rush it.

We're aiming for a 2027 kickoff, and right now the work is happening mostly out of sight, partnerships, hires, conversations across Montgomery, and a lot of details that don't make for flashy announcements.

It matters to us that this team feels connected to the city all year, not just on game nights. That means starting with the people who actually live here: local families, small businesses, schools, and the folks who keep Montgomery running.

We want pro sports in this town to be affordable, fun to bring your kids to, and obviously ours. By the time the team takes the field, we want it to feel like Montgomery has had a hand in building it.

This takes time, and we're okay with that.

When the Catfish do step on the field, we want it to be the start of something that sticks around.

Inaugural Season Timeline

Our path to the first kickoff in mid-April 2027. Every milestone builds toward a team Montgomery can call its own.

  1. Q2 2026

    Official Launch & Press Release

    Official press release from team ownership and the American Arena League. Website launches alongside the announcement. The first merchandise drop hits the city with hats and Fear The Fin gear. Season ticket waitlist opens, and the front office search begins.

    The first concept jersey design drops day one. Fans get the first look and the first chance to reserve one before anyone else.

  2. Q3 2026

    Leadership, Media Day & Venue Reveal

    Front office leadership is in place with public introductions of our executive team. Media Day in Montgomery, where we introduce the people you've been hearing about, reveal our home venue alongside our community partners, and introduce the head coach. Coaching staff announcements to follow. Open tryout dates and registration go live so Alabama talent gets first look.

  3. Q4 2026

    Tryouts, Partnerships & Uniform Launch

    Open tryouts run across the region. More local partnership announcements roll out, and community events pick up across the city. The official home and away uniforms launch with a citywide moment, jersey reveals on the streets, in our partner storefronts, and online, so fans can rep the team from day one.

    The full home and away uniforms drop around the city. Game jerseys go up for order the same day so the gear is in fans' hands well before kickoff.

  4. Winter 2026 – Spring 2027

    Season Preparation Milestones

    Roster finalized, training camp opens, and season ticket members locked in. Game production team finalized.
